Group and Government Rates at Headquarters Hotels. The reduced group rate for Conference registrants at the Portola Hotel & Spa is $200/night (single or double), plus tax. At the Marriott Hotel, the reduced group rate is $204/night (single or double), plus tax. Comparable discounts are available for suites. A percentage of rooms will be available at the prevailing U.S. Government per diem rate (plus tax) for U.S. federal, state, and local government employees. These rates are good through April 16, 2012, unless the blocks sell out before that date. Both hotels are connected to the Monterey Conference Center, and some Conference functions will be held at each.
Reservations at Group Rates. To make a reservation online, click here and insert arrival and check-out dates. Both hotels and their rates will be displayed; select your preferred hotel and follow the prompts. Before submitting your reservation, be sure to verify that the correct group rate is displayed and review the payment and cancellation requirements. On May 16, 2011, both hotels will begin taking reservations by phone; to make a reservation by phone, call the hotel’s reservations department (Marriott: 888-236-2427; Portola: 831-649-4511). Mention that you are attending the “Battelle Chlorinated Conference” to qualify for the group rate. Be sure to obtain a registration confirmation number and to inquire about the hotel’s cancellation and early check-out policies.
Reservations at Government Rates. Reservations at the U.S. Government federal per diem rate must be made online using a special access code. If you are a U.S. federal, state, or local government employee (not a contractor), request the link and code from The Conference Group (800-783-6338 or 614-488-2030; info@confgroupinc.com). Be sure to review the payment and cancellation requirements and determine what ID the hotel will require upon check-in to verify that you are a government employee.
Air Transportation. Major air service is available into the Monterey Peninsula Airport, but flying into San Francisco International or San Jose International also is an option. The Monterey/Salinas Airbus Shuttle (831-373-7777) provides San Francisco-San Jose-Monterey service; the San Jose-Monterey leg is $35 one way. Approximate driving time is 2 hours from San Francisco and 1-1/2 hours from San Jose. Transportation from Monterey Peninsula Airport to the hotels is available by taxi for approximately $15 one way. Airport transportation is not provided by the hotels.
Hotel Parking. As of April 2011, parking rates include in and out privileges at the following rates:
- Portola Hotel and Spa: $20 per day valet/$17 per day self-park
- Marriott Hotel: $19 per day valet (no self-park)
There also are nearby city parking facilities at a cost of $7 and up. Note: the Conference cannot validate parking.
