Conference Center. The Monterey Meeting Connection, made up of the Monterey Conference Center, the Portola Hotel & Spa, and the Marriott Hotel, is situated on Portola Plaza, within walking distance of Fisherman’s Wharf, Cannery Row, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, shopping areas, restaurants, and other attractions of downtown Monterey, California. Many scenic and historic sites and championship golf courses are just a short drive away along the seacoast north or south of Monterey.
Hotel Accommodations.
Both the Marriott Hotel (350 Calle Principal, Monterey, CA 93940 ) and the Portola Hotel & Spa (2 Portola Plaza, Monterey, CA 93940) are connected to the Monterey Conference Center, and Conference functions will be held at each of the three buildings. The reduced group rate for Conference registrants at the Portola is $185/night (single or double), plus tax; the rate at the Marriott is $189/night (single or double), plus tax. Comparable discounts are available for suites. These rates are good through April 19, 2010, unless the block sells out before that date. A percentage of the rooms blocked for the Conference are available at the U.S. Government per diem rate. Reservation procedures for each category follow.

Marriott Monterey
Insert your arrival and departure dates and then follow the prompts to complete your reservation. Before submitting your reservation, be sure to verify that the correct Conference group rate is displayed and review the payment and cancellation requirements. If you prefer to make a reservation by phone, call the hotel’s reservations department (Portola: 831-649-4511; Marriott: 831-649-4234). Mention that you are attending the "Battelle Chlorinated Conference" to qualify for the group rate.
Government registrants: Reservations at the per diem rate must be made on line using a special access code. If you are a U.S. federal, state, or local government employee (not a contractor), request the link and code from The Conference Group (800-783-6338 or 614-488-2030; info@confgroupinc.com). Be sure to review the payment and cancellation requirements and determine what ID the hotel will require upon check-in to verify that you are a government employee.
Air Transportation. Major air service is available into the Monterey Peninsula Airport, but flying into San Francisco International or San Jose International also is an option. The Monterey/Salinas Airbus Shuttle (831-373-7777) and rental cars are available from these cities. Approximate driving time is 2 hours from San Francisco and 1-1/2 hours from San Jose. Transportation from Monterey Peninsula Airport to the hotels is available by taxi for approximately $15 one way. Airport transportation is not provided by the hotels.
Hotel Parking. As of September 2009, parking rates at the hotels include in and out privileges at the following rates:
Portola Hotel and Spa: $20 per day valet/$17 per day self-park
Marriott Hotel: $19 per day valet (no self-park)
There are also nearby city parking facilities at a cost of $7 and up. Note: the Conference cannot validate parking.
