The Sixth International Conference on Remediation of Contaminated Sediments will be held February 7-10, 2011, at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel. The overall theme of the 2011 Sediments Conference will be “Research into Action.” General topics for the 2011 program will align closely with those of the 2009 Conference (see below), with revisions and additions as appropriate to reflect new technologies and issues. An outline of topic areas for the 2011 program will appear in the Call for Abstracts, which will be available in print and at this site in March 2010.  Abstracts to be considered for the 2011 program will be due in summer 2010. To inquire about becoming a Conference sponsor, please contact Conference staff; sponsors confirmed by February 15, 2010, will be listed on the Call for Abstracts brochure.

The Sediments Conference was conducted in Venice (2001, 2003), New Orleans (2005), Savannah (2007), and Jacksonville (2009). The 2009 Conference was the largest to date, attended by 920 scientists, engineers, regulators, remediation site owners, and other environmental professionals, representing universities, government agencies, consultants, and R&D and service firms from 21 countries. Exhibits were provided by 53 organizations that provide contaminated sediment-related services or supply equipment used in such work. The nine short courses offered in conjunction with the Conference had a combined registration of 170. See the 2009 Final Program for an overview of the content of the technical program, which was made up of 400 platform and poster presentations and four panel discussions. The program presented the 41 specialized sessions and the panels in the 13 thematic blocks listed below, and proceedings are structured accordingly.
