Battelle Recognized as
Coastal America Partner

The Assistant Secretary of the Army, Dr. Joseph Westphal, recently awarded Battelle for its role as a corporate partner with the Massachusetts Corporate Wetlands Restoration Partnership (CWRP), managed by the Massachusetts Wetlands Restoration Program (MWRP) of the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs. In this role, Battelle provides in-kind services and monetary donations to CWRP for the restoration and preservation of the nation’s fragile coastline.

This partnership establishes a one of a kind relationship with federal, regional and local organizations, which seeks to stop and reverse the degradation of America’s fresh and saltwater wetlands and other aquatic habitat. CWRP and its partners pool their resources to influence national policy, initiate restoration projects, and provide leadership to protect, preserve and restore coastal resources, while maintaining a strong economy.

At the Battelle co-sponsored Coastal Marsh Research Symposium, which took place on November 29-30, in Plymouth, Mass, Battelle Fisheries Program Manager, Ms. Karen Foster, received a plaque inaugurating Battelle into the Coastal America partnership.

“I am proud to have joined the Corporate Wetlands Restoration Partnership. We at Battelle have a personal and professional interest in the preservation of our coastline,” states Tony Graffeo, Battelle Vice President.
