Battelle Welcomes
California Office Welcomes Environmental Toxicologist

Battelle is pleased to welcome Dr. George Monteverdi to its West Coast regional office in Oakland, California. Dr. Monteverdi brings over 10 years’ experience in aquatic ecotoxicology, human health and ecological risk assessments, fate and transport of chemicals, and biomathematical modeling. As a Principal Research Scientist, one of Dr. Monteverdi’s focuses will be to manage Battelle’s Hunters Point Offshore Parcel Feasibility Study project for the U.S. Navy.

George Monteverdi Prior to joining Battelle, Dr. Monteverdi served as project manger for several large-scale ecological risk assessments and toxicity programs. He has extensive knowledge in the toxicity of crude oils and refined petroleum products. Additionally, Dr. Monteverdi is experienced in the design and management of risk assessments for ecological receptors, including threatened and endangered species. He also has experience with performing wetland and water quality risk assessments and designing and implementing sampling plans for terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.

Dr. Monteverdi received his doctorate in toxicology from Duke University and his bachelor’s in environmental toxicology from the University of California, Davis.
