Battelle Announces the Opening of the
Hitt Institute of Technology Training

Management PyramidBattelle is pleased to announce the resumption of its internationally recognized “Program in Technology Management” with the opening of the Hitt Institute of Technology Training. For almost 20 years, Battelle, the world’s largest private Research and Development organization, conducted international technology management courses under the direction of Dr. William Hitt. These courses concluded with the unfortunate passing of Dr. Hitt in 1998. Responding to continuous inquiries and requests, Battelle is reinstating the Program in honor of Dr. Hitt and updating the curriculum to reflect today’s best practices in technology management. Instructors will be senior level, hands-on technology managers at Battelle with an average of 25 years of practical experience. Presenters will also include senior technology managers from leading government and industrial organizations.

The mission of the Hitt Institute will be to help technology managers successfully manage in today’s complex business environment by using practical rather than theoretical perspectives focused on best practice implementation.

Objectives of Battelle’s Program in Technology Management include:

  • Increasing a technology organization’s strategic focus by helping technology managers ensure the delivery of exceptional products and services to customers while optimizing their innovation process;
  • Developing transformational leadership skills among scientists and engineers in technology organizations that will allow them to successfully empower other members of their organizations to contribute to its mission and strategy;
  • Maximizing business value through the identification and implementation of superior Environment, Health and Safety Programs that satisfy all stakeholders, reflect corporate responsibility, and build a sustainable future; and
  • Equipping and empowering today’s technology leaders with the skills necessary to make the best possible business decisions and investment options, enhance service delivery, better manage change, and deal with increased globalization.

Battelle Battelle instructors will accomplish this by:

  • integrating the most recent methodologies for understanding market and technology trends into course approaches;
  • using hands-on relevant case studies;
  • developing courses tailored to a specific clientele and focused on the management of concepts and ideas; and
  • providing the tools to effectively guide the core processes through their complex organizations.

Battelle’s “Program in Technology Management” will be held at Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Ohio, USA the week of March 17, 2003. The cost for the Program will be $3,500.
