On October 1, 2007, Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLC, a management team including Battelle, Bechtel National, University of California, BWX Technologies (BWXT), Washington Group International, and Texas A&M University assumed leadership of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). Pioneers in the application of many technologies - from high-performance computers to advanced lasers  - to meet national security needs, LLNL continues to ensure that the nation’s nuclear weapons remain safe, secure, and reliable. With a staff of more than 8,000, LLNL also applies its expertise to prevent the spread and use of weapons of mass destruction and strengthen homeland security.
