Columbus, OH—Battelle announced today that it has hired Thomas D. Snowberger as its Senior Vice President of Human Resources. He will begin on February 2, 2009.
Snowberger, 44, replaces Robert W. Smith, who is retiring after a 30-year Battelle career. Snowberger comes to Battelle from DHL Holdings (U.S.A.), Inc., where he was Senior Vice President of Human Resources responsible for organizational development, compensation and benefits design and administration, labor relations, and internal communications. DHL is the international express industry’s global market leader with operations in 220 countries and more than 32,000 employees in the United States.
“Tom has extensive experience with succession planning, employee engagement, talent management, and influencing enterprise-wide cultural change to support organizational strategies,” said Carl F. Kohrt, Battelle’s President and CEO. “He is an outstanding addition to our executive management team.”
Before joining DHL, Snowberger served as Senior Vice President of Human Resources for the University Hospitals System in Cleveland, Ohio and had been promoted to expatriate assignments at E.ON AG’s Academy in Dusseldorf, Germany and its Scandinavian operations in Malmo, Sweden.
In addition, Snowberger held human resource management positions with LG&E Energy Corporation in Louisville, Kentucky; National Service Industries, Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia; and PPG Industries, Inc. in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Snowberger holds a B.A. from the University of Iowa.
