Washington, D.C.—Battelle’s contributions to the design and construction of a new Integrated Emergency Operations Center (IEOC) at the Pentagon were recognized in a dedication of the facility today.
The IEOC consolidates emergency operations of the two key agencies responsible for protecting the Pentagon—the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) and the Washington Headquarters Service (WHS).
The new IEOC has improved joint decision-making during all phases of incident response, eliminated duplication of effort from having multiple command and control centers, and improved information processing and dissemination.
“We’re proud to have contributed to this important aspect of protecting people in this vital building,” said Mike Janus, Battelle Vice President for Systems Integration Services. “There’s no building on earth as unique as the Pentagon, so our consolidation solutions for the IEOC had to be just as unique and customized.”
Battelle’s role focused on developing capabilities and requirements; coordinating unique and novel conceptual and detailed designs; providing technical oversight of procurement and installation activities to ensure specifications were met; and conducting training and exercises for federal, state, and local stakeholders.
