TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER SPECIALIST JOINS NASA-SPONSORERD INITIATIVE

Cleveland, OH -- The Battelle-managed NASA Glenn Garrett Morgan Commercialization Initiative (GMCI) recently appointed Anthony Gillespie as a Technology Commercialization Specialist.

In his new position, Gillespie will assist with commercialization and marketing strategies, facilitate the identification and transfer of technology, and help build GMCI community alliances.

"We are excited to have Anthony on board. He adds a wealth of technical and business experience to the GMCI team, and creates new opportunities for partnerships and client service delivery," says Gail E. Wright, GMCI program manager.

Gillespie has 14 years of experience working in a variety of electrical engineering, technology transfer, and information technology roles in the electric utility, nonprofit, and financial services industries. Before joining Battelle, he was a Project Manager for the Center of Technology Transfer at Carnegie Mellon University. There, he was involved in the formation of two start-up companies and responsible for commercializing technologies from the Carnegie Institute of Engineering and School of Computer Science. Gillespie has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Dayton, and an MBA and a MS in the Management of Information Systems from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University.

GMCI, a technology transfer and commercialization program sponsored by the NASA Glenn Research Center, increases the competitiveness of small, minority-owned, and woman-owned companies in the Midwest, Northeast, and Southeast by providing enhanced access to NASA technology, programs, and resources.

Since its launch in 1998 by the NASA Glenn Research Center, located in Cleveland, Ohio, more than 4,000 companies have been introduced to GMCI and its customized, capacity-building services. Over 800 companies have received education and training through conferences, seminars, workshops, meetings and technology dialogues, and more than 80 firms have received comprehensive, direct technical and business support. In addition, GMCI has awarded $2 million to 23 companies to support the progression of new technologies and products through its competitive Commercialization Assistance Awards.
