Our Mission, Vision & Values

Steel industrialist Gordon Battelle provided for the Battelle Memorial Institute in his 1923 last will and testament after a career devoted to the idea that science and research can solve problems in business and society as a whole. His vision became the Institute’s mission when it opened its doors six years later.

Today, Battelle’s shared values are founded on the belief that superior business performance and high ethical and community standards can go hand-in-hand.

Clients appreciate our independent, candid and innovative approach to solving problems. Employees value our commitment to diversity, professional development and the notion of unity without uniformity. The communities where we live and work benefit from our philanthropic and volunteer activities. We are guided by the belief, shared by our employees, that no business objective is worth achieving at the expense of our integrity and ethics.
