At Battelle, we believe there is much to be gained by putting real-world technology tools in the hands of students and teachers. Why talk about computer-aided design when you could be doing computer aided design?
The Battelle Engineering Experience (B2e) program was established in 2006 for the purpose of promoting industry and education engagement. B2e volunteers from industry, higher education and the community interface with students, teachers and school administrators to develop innovative ideas in education with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
B2e's purpose is to introduce teachers and students to problem-based learning through the application of industry utilized computer-aided design (CAD) tools and exposure to industry professionals. Through B2e schools get licenses for design software that they can use in the classroom at no cost to them. B2e even provides training to the teaching staff at no charge. B2e develops programs including after-school STEM Clubs. Programs such as the STEM Club impact classroom achievement by introducing alternative methods of learning that students can relate to real-world applications.
