At Battelle, we believe that our employees are our greatest asset. It is only through their individual genius and generosity that we, collectively, can make a difference. That is why we are extremely proud of our award-winning, staff-driven employee volunteer program Team Battelle. It is through Team Battelle that our staff imagine and innovate opportunities that extend into the community every day. In 2008, staff served more than 10,000 hours in neighborhoods and schools across the country. In the past decade, Battelle and its staff members have given more than $7 million to United Way agencies across the country.
As the people at Battelle learn more about the urgency in our schools for improved science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, they become more innovative in actively engaging students and teachers. Creating hands-on after-school STEM club curricula, forming a career shadow program, participating in the Battelle Engineering Experience, and working in elementary classrooms to perform science experiments are just a few of the approaches Battelle staff members have developed to show their commitment to being part of education improvement in their communities.
