At Battelle, we believe that with imagination and ingenuity, anything is possible. Sixty years ago there were no copy machine repairers. Want to know why? Because there were no copy machines!  It took the genius and perseverance of a man named Chester Carlson and the vision of researchers at Battelle to make copy machines a reality. It was 1959 when the first office copier using xerography was put on the market.

Today, Battelle continues to conduct cutting-edge research that will lead to new discoveries and inventions that will become integral in all our lives. Through our educational initiatives and partnerships we are endeavoring to help students prepare to be the custodians of these discoveries – to improve upon them and apply them in new ways – in jobs we cannot even imagine. We believe that the path to success in this endeavor is through STEM-based (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) learning.

If you are intrigued by technology, long for a challenge yet identified, dream of making a difference that could impact the world – then STEM education is for you.  Don’t go to school to become something defined by someone else. Go to school to define something you want to become!
