A Voice for Change - Employee Resource Groups
Battelle established Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) in 2004 to support the recruitment and retention of women and people of color. Our ERGs find ways to impact systemic processes that lead to culture change. They are a strong advocacy voice and change agent for Battelle staff in areas of concern that women and minorities view as essential for business success.
ERGs promote:
- Career Development - We identify and provide career path/options, identify and train mentors to assist women and minorities in Battelle careers, and provide skills development and leadership opportunities.
- Work/Life Balance - We address key work/life balance issues.
- Communication - We facilitate communication between staff within the Columbus area and Battelle-wide.
Making Change Happen - Diversity Action Teams
Diversity Action Teams (DATs) implement strategies and tactics to develop and support a diverse, inclusive workforce at regional offices. DATs are composed of a cross-section (levels, organization, functions) of diverse employees with a common location.
Our DATs create awareness at the local level by:
- Engaging staff
- Creating a sense of community
- Increasing teamwork
Being Part of the Solution - Diversity Facilitators
Diversity Facilitators are employees who have volunteered to assist and facilitate diversity education and training throughout the Battelle community. They work to promote understanding, celebrate differences, and create an environment of mutual respect, individual value, and collective opportunity. There are 15 facilitators who are active in making diversity a reality at Battelle.
