Meeting Headquarters

The Portola Plaza & Marriott Hotels/Monterey Conference Center complex is situated on Portola Plaza, within walking distance of Fisherman's Wharf, Cannery Row, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, shopping areas, restaurants, and other attractions of downtown Monterey, California. Both hotels are connected to the Monterey Conference Center, and each of the three buildings will be used for Conference functions. Many scenic and historic sites and championship golf courses are just a short drive away along the seacoast north or south of Monterey.

Hotel Accommodations

Conference registrants can reserve rooms at the Portola Plaza Hotel at the reduced group rate of $180/night (single or double), plus tax. At the Marriott Hotel, the reduced group rate is $189/night (single or double), plus tax. Comparable discounts are available for suites. These rates are good through April 21, 2008, unless the block sells out before that date.

Government registrants:  A percentage of rooms are available at the prevailing U.S. Government per diem rate (plus tax) for U.S. federal, state, and local government employees. Reservations at the per diem rate must be made on line using a special access code. If you are a government employee, contact The Conference Group to request the access code and link; call 800-783-6338 or 614-488-2030 or e-mail info@confgroupinc.com. Be sure to review the payment and cancellation requirements.

Non-government registrants:  To reserve a room at the Monterey Marriott Hotel or the Portola Plaza Hotel, go to https://resweb.passkey.com/go/battelle08, insert your preferred arrival and departure dates, select the preferred hotel, and follow the prompts to complete your reservation. Be sure to review the payment and cancellation requirements. If you prefer to make a reservation by phone, contact the reservations department at the following numbers. Mention that you are attending the "Battelle Chlorinated Conference" to qualify for the group rate.

Travel and Local Transportation

Major air service is available into the Monterey Peninsula Airport, but flying into San Francisco International or San Jose International also is an option. The Monterey/Salinas Airbus Shuttle (831-883-2871) and rental cars are available from these cities. Approximate driving time is 2-1/2 hours from San Francisco and 1-1/2 hours from San Jose. Detailed information on the shuttle will be included with registration confirmation. Transportation from Monterey Peninsula Airport to the hotels is available by taxi for $12 one way. Airport transportation is not provided by the hotels.
