Capabilities: Develop and deliver innovative programs and services in technology-based economic development, technology commercialization and strategic technology positioning. Encompasses industries ranging from information technology to life sciences and advanced manufacturing.
Points of Pride: As the Great Lakes Industrial Technology Center (GLITeC), Battelle managed the NASA Midwest Regional Technology Transfer Center for 14 years with the objective of turning NASA mission technology into valuable products, processes and solutions. The result of the joint efforts of GLITeC and the NASA Innovative Partnerships Program Office has enhanced both NASA goals and the U.S. economy.
Furthermore, Battelle’s Technology Partnership Practice has established itself as a leader in analyzing and promoting bioscience clusters. For the first time, Battelle developed state and metro data on bioscience employment. The Battelle definition of the bioscience sector and its subsectors is now widely used across the country.
Additionally, Battelle Cleveland staff assisted in establishing Cima Technology Center, which houses an innovative program to support technology job training and boost economic development in a disadvantaged Chicago neighborhood.
Good Deeds: Staff support the annual United Way and
Toys for Tots campaigns and an ongoing American Red Cross blood drive. Many staff members are sponsors for pledge walks and runs. Staff members recycle cans and newspapers to benefit the Animal Protective League and collect pop can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House.
