Capabilities: Provides scientific and technical expertise for first responders and receivers; offers expertise in security, antiterrorism, law enforcement, critical infrastructure protection, installation and acquisition management; provides services in agrosecurity, public health, veterinary medicine and biosecurity.
Points of Pride: Technical experts help improve mission readiness of medical CBRN teams; provide technical explosive ordnance disposal support to relieve the severe operations tempo; plan for homeland security and antiterrorism, develop operations and doctrines and execute exercises; develop technical guidance for public health, emerging infectious diseases, food safety and security and biosecurity.
Good Deeds: A staff volunteer developed a disaster response training course for the country of Mongolia’s Veterinary School at the Mongolian State University of Agriculture. The course will offer veterinarians information on the preparation, response and recovery actions needed for a major disease outbreak or other disaster affecting livestock in Mongolia. Other staff members volunteer at local schools and churches, and support the Susan G. Komen San Antonio Race for the Cure. Several staff volunteer at San Antonio’s Fiesta, which celebrates San Antonio’s rich and diverse culture.
