THE NEW KID IN SCHOOL
When you were a kid, did you ever have to move to a new school in the middle of the year? Everyone knows everyone else, they all look at you the way the crash survivors on "Lost" looked at Juliette last week, and you don't even know where the restrooms are.
Now, after more than 20 years at Battelle, I'm the new kid all over again. I've just started a new assignment as the "Battelle Education Project Manager in Residence" at Metro High School, the first-year school founded by Battelle and OSU in partnership with the Franklin County Educational Council.
You would be missing out if you didn't get a chance to learn more about Metro and its amazing students, so I want to tell you all about it.
In this blog, I'll update you on what's happening here and help you see this school through the eyes of some of our students, who will post their own stories from time to time. Hopefully my posts will encourage you to think about how you might want to lend a hand or, at the very least, give you reasons to be proud to be part of the Metro High School community.
Next time, I'll write about watching an American icon (that's icon … not Idol … ) stroll around our little school …
(Did I mention I love my new job???)
