OUR NEIGHBOR, OUR PARTNER
Ohio State University’s new president has been making his rounds, reacquainting himself with the university and the community and meeting some new friends. We were lucky to be on Dr. Gordon Gee’s list, and he made a stop at Metro last week.
The students, faculty and staff were all excited to meet him and we did everything short of rolling out the red carpet to welcome him. He visited every classroom and spoke to the students, complimenting and encouraging them. He seemed very pleased with what he saw. Many of you may not know this, but Ohio State recently won the regional C. Peter MaGrath/Kellogg Award for Outreach and Engagement for its project, “Engaged Partners: Improving the Lives of Children and Youth.” The project forges a bold, new model of public/private partnerships that works rapidly to address complex national problems affecting the success of children and youth. Next month Ohio State will compete for the national award, and Metro is pleased to be one of the project’s points of pride. In presenting the project for the national award, OSU reps will show interviews of Metro High School students along with footage of the Pro/E Bootcamp for the Engineering Club this summer at Battelle.
This is a very prestigious award, and Battelle is prominently noted as a partner throughout the presentation. Aren’t you proud?
I’m finding that Battelle’s partnership with OSU keeps building momentum to create more and more opportunities to truly make a difference in our community.
