Battelle was recently honored with two awards for its information technology know-how in support of several government agencies.
E-Gov, an information technology trade group, gives out awards to recognize solutions for improving electronic government delivery and exemplary achievements in E-Government and higher education service delivery.
E-Gov recently awarded the U.S. Department of Defense, Central Contractor Registration (CCR) Program Office as one of 20 recipients of the Trailblazer Award, selected from among 250 nominees. This award was in recognition of the integration of CCR with the Small Business Administration (SBA) PRO-Net system.
The Battelle team supports CCR, which registers contractors for the Department of Defense and several other government agencies including NASA, the Department of Transportation and the SBA. The team provides call center support to solve the toughest of the problems users have while using the contractor registration system. There are currently more than 230,000 active vendors registered in CCR.
"This is the last level of support. If we can't solve your problem, then no one can," said Matt Wald, Vice President, Information Technology Solutions product line. "The recognition is particularly meaningful this year because of the complexity of the SBA work we tackled."
Thirteen people in Battle Creek, Michigan support the government work. The group is part of Battelle's Columbus-based Information Technology Solutions product line, which has 250 people in 13 different locations with an annual business volume of $55 million. It supports numerous U.S.
government agencies including the Army, the Air Force, Health and Human Services, and the Department of Transportation.
The other award in which Battelle was involved is the E-Government Best Practice Application Award, recognizing work on the Disasterhelp.gov. The site, which Battelle supports for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) out of its Stafford, Virginia office, is an externally facing public portal for disaster related information and services.
