DAVID CHERINGTON NAMED BATTELLE'S DIRECTOR OF GOVERNMENT RELATIONS FOR NATIONAL SECURITY AND HOMELAND SECURITY
COLUMBUS, OH-David Cherington has joined Battelle's Office of External Relations in Washington, D.C., as Director of Government Relations for National Security and Homeland Security.
Cherington joined Battelle after spending the previous four years as Counsel for the Senate Armed Services Committee. While working for the Committee, Cherington focused on nuclear weapons issues, environmental cleanup of former nuclear facilities, and, in 2004, environmental policy across the Armed Services.
"David is one of those rare people in Washington who has worked in the House of Representatives for a Member of the Appropriations Committee, in the Senate for a major Committee (Armed Services), and for a not-for-profit organization in government relations," says Battelle's Jack Bagley, Vice President for External Relations. "He brings all of this background to Battelle for its national security, homeland security, life sciences and NASA business sectors."
Before joining the Senate Armed Services Committee, Cherington spent two years as Associate Director for Government Affairs for Princeton University, and four years before that on the staff of Michigan Congressman Joe Knollenberg, a member of the House Appropriations Committee.
Cherington holds a Juris Doctor from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan, and a bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado.
