U.S. ARMY GEN. PAUL KERN (RET.) JOINS BATTELLE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY INTERNATIONAL

WASHINGTON, D.C.-Retired U.S. Army General Paul J. Kern will be applying his expertise to national security issues as he joins Battelle Science and Technology International.

Kern, who recently retired from the Army after a distinguished 37-year-career, has been appointed Vice President and Senior Advisor, Homeland Security and National Defense at Battelle, a global leader in scientific research and technology development.

"We're pleased that Gen. Kern has joined Battelle and is bringing his considerable expertise and experience to our organization and our customers," said Executive Vice President Gregory L. Frank. "Gen. Kern develops and implements change to solve complex problems--which is what we do for our clients every day."

Gen. Kern, 59, recently gave up command of the United States Army Materiel Command after leading it for three years during Operation Noble Eagle, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom. Prior to this assignment he served as the Military Deputy to the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology. He has more than 25 years of experience in policy development, operations, technology, and logistics and a proven record of leadership and innovation in combat and in the Pentagon.

Gen. Kern, who is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, currently serves on the Board of Directors of Anteon and EDO Corporations.
