DR. JOHN WADE TO LEAD BATTELLE'S WMD DEFENSE EFFORTS IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

Arlington, VA--Dr. John V. Wade has been named Vice President, CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) Programs for Battelle's National Security Division. Wade, who will be based in Battelle's Crystal City office, will be responsible for developing major programs and keeping in close contact with existing clients in the WMD (Weapons of Mass Destruction) arena, primarily in the chemical and biological defense community.

Wade joined Battelle as VP of Vaccine Program Development in 1999 and more recently was VP and Manager of Biodefense Medical Systems.

"John has all the right technological know-how and the government leadership skills needed to address the WMD threat," said Steve Kelly, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Battelle's National Security Divisions. "In his new role, he'll be on the ground in Washington working with the national security community, civil agencies, and commercial companies to create solutions and solve problems."

Prior to joining Battelle, Wade served as Acting Deputy Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Counterproliferation and Chemical and Biological Defense at the Pentagon. He also served as Chief of the Toxinology Division for the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases in Ft. Detrick, Maryland. He spent 22 years on active duty in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps and retired in 1999 as a colonel.

Wade, 51, has a Bachelor's of Science, is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, holds a Ph.D. in Toxicology, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology.
