JULES DUGA EARNS LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FROM BATTELLE

Columbus, OH--Battelle looked back on more than 50 years of forward thinking in awarding a Lifetime Achievement award to veteran researcher-and R&D forecast author-Jules Duga.

Duga was honored at Battelle's annual Reward and Recognition banquet held recently at the Aladdin Shrine Center.

The R&D forecast has been an annual publication at Battelle since 1964. It looks at and predicts trends in U.S. spending on research and development. Duga worked on his first R&D forecast in 1979 and took over as sole author shortly thereafter. He finished his most recent forecast in January and last year prepared Battelle's first international R&D forecast looking at global trends in R&D funding.

Duga's 50-year career at Battelle also includes pioneering work on developing technology partnerships between companies in the U.S. and India, strategic planning for research institutes in Mexico, and research analysis for the worldwide petroleum industry. He was a primary contributor to national programs to establish technology offices in all 50 states and in local governments.

"Jules has meant a great deal to Battelle as a researcher and certainly increased our profile nationally and internationally through his dedicated work on the R&D forecast," said Battelle President and CEO Carl F. Kohrt. "The reports have been referenced in front-page articles in publications as prominent as the Wall Street Journal, and the information he provides frames R&D discussion in the U.S. and around the world."

Duga was among more than 80 employees honored at the 30th annual Battelle ceremony.
