HENNESSEY PROMOTED TO LEAD BATTELLE'S NATIONAL SECURITY BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Columbus, OH--Pete Hennessey, a retired Air Force Brigadier General, has been promoted to Vice President for Business Development for Battelle's National Security Division.

It's the second promotion for the respected Air Force general since joining Battelle in 2003.

"Since joining Battelle, Pete has proven to be very effective in meeting client needs and driving new, innovative business opportunities," said Steve Kelly, Senior Vice President of Battelle's National Security Division.

Most recently, Hennessey led Battelle's business with the Air Force, including a $500 million contract at the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. Battelle is the prime contractor for the task of designing, developing, constructing, and implementing a lean transformation of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities and operations.

Hennessey assumes the newly created position on Jan. 1, when he will have overall responsibility for business development activities for all military services and joint commands, defense agencies and related federal clients such as the Department of Homeland Security.

Hennessey served in the Air Force for 28 years, including assignment as Director of Logistics, Air Mobility Command and Director of Resources, at the Pentagon. Prior to that he served in senior management positions across a spectrum of wholesale and retail logistics operations and directed several major systems acquisition programs. Notably, Hennessey directed all logistics operations for Air Force mobility forces during Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan.
