BATTELLE, R.G. BARRY DEVELOP
"HEAT SEAT," CUSHION KEEPS YOU
TOASTY WARM UP TO 8 HOURS

Suppose your favorite football team still plays the game the way it was meant to be played--outdoors.

Say, for example, your team is the Green Bay Packers. It's mid-December and, being a loyal fan, you're freezing in the stands during a brutally cold Sunday afternoon.

Well, shiver no more. Now, thanks to an invention by the R.G. Barry Corporation and Battelle, you can be as warm as those sissies sitting in the domed stadiums.

The Barry-Battelle combination has developed a microwave-heated stadium seat designed to keep you warm for up to eight hours.

The seat, which when folded is about the size of a small briefcase, is heated in a microwave for six minutes. The material inside the seat retains an average temperature of about 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

The pliable seat folds up and can be carried with attached handles.

Gideon Salee, a senior research scientist in Battelle's Polymer Center, identified a material capable of storing heat and efficiently transferring it throughout the cushion.

The thermal transfer technology was jointly developed by the two organizations. A patent is pending on the process.

The seat will sell under the name of "The Heat Seat" by "Heat to" in discount stores. An upscale version of the seat will sell in department stores under R.G. Barry's premium brandname, Dearfoams.

Both versions are being test marketed this fall. They should be available for national distribution by the fall of 1994.
