EARLY PIONEER IN XEROGRAPHY
NAMED BATTELLE INVENTOR OF YEAR
Battelle researcher Paul Andrus recently was named Battelle-Columbus Inventor of the Year in recognition of his career achievements, which range from work on the original team that developed xerography to innovations in bar codes and electronics.
When Andrus joined Battelle in 1947, he viewed the job as start-up work that would lead to a real job down the road. More than 50 years later, he has had a remarkable and distinguished career at Battelle, with 23 patents to his name. In addition to the numerous xerography-related patents he holds, he played a vital part in creating the invisible bar code.
Andrus is now working to improve his latest patent: no-reflection prints. This process eliminates glare from photographs or printed pages without dulling contrast or blurring detail, thus making printed material easier to see or read. The process currently is attracting market-place interest.
To arrange an interview with Andrus, contact Robin Yocum, Battelle Manager of Media Relations, at 614.424.5544.
