Robert D. Walter, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cardinal Health, Inc., has been elected to Battelle's Board of Directors. His election occurred yesterday at the Board's quarterly meeting. "Bob Walter is a great addition to our Board of Directors," said Douglas E. Olesen, Battelle's President and CEO. "He brings business, technology, and marketplace acumen that will be highly valuable to our future operations. Bob has an excellent track record in building a successful and adaptive business. "I'm delighted to be associated with Battelle - a global leader in innovation," said Walter. "I look forward to working closely with the Board and Doug Olesen as we enter the exciting 21st century, where technology will play such a major role." Walter is chairman and chief executive officer of Dublin, Ohio-based Cardinal Health, Inc. He founded the company as a food wholesaler in 1971, and has steered its evolution into a leading provider of services supporting health care. Walter holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Ohio University and a master's degree in business from Harvard Business School. He serves on the boards of directors of Bank One Corporation, CBS Corporation, and Infinity Broadcasting Corporation. Walter resides in Dublin, Ohio.
