INTERACTING GROOVES
The same types of comparisons can be made for grooves. In this case, the base defect is 50-percent deep by 3-inches long by 1-inch wide. For the circumferential spacing, two separation distances are shown:
Similar conclusions can be reached about interacting grooves as were reached for interacting pits. In short, adjacent grooves make signal interpretation more difficult. Axial separation helps, though. A modest amount of axial separation makes the two defect signal easier to analyze.
