Scientific Services Program (SSP)
The Scientific Services Program (SSP) is an accelerated contract mechanism that enables all federal government organizations to obtain specialized scientific/technical services in order to accomplish organizational goals and mission objectives specifically related to research and development (R&D).
Through SSP, Federal government organizations can quickly obtain scientists, engineers, analysts, consultants, and subject matter experts for short-term, well-defined, R&D efforts. SSP tasks can be performed in any science and technology area of interest.
The scientific/technical problem to be solved by the research should be clearly explained in the PWS and pertain to one of the science or technology areas identified below:
- Chemical Sciences
- Life Sciences
- Materials Science
- Medical and Health Sciences
- Computing Sciences
- Environmental Sciences
- Engineering Sciences
- Modeling and Simulation
- Network Sciences
- Psychology and Social Sciences

Users: Federal Government (no state or local)
Competitive Procurement: Battelle was competitively selected as the SSP prime contractor; therefore, no additional competition is required for work performed by Battelle under this contract vehicle. The SSP may also be used as a pass-through contract vehicle to obtain the services of subcontractors such as independent consultants, small & large businesses, colleges & universities. All Battelle subcontractors are competitively selected.
