    Steve Jacobs

    Systems Architect

    Steve Jacobs started with Battelle in the summer of 2011. Over the past three years he has served as the primary systems architect for the National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON) program and has recently taken on a leadership role during NEON’s transition to operations.

    Kathy Kirby, M.S.

    Research Infrastructure, Program Manager

    Ms. Kirby is the Program Manager for the National Science Foundation National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON), a $430 million dollar programs for the construction, development, installation, and transition to operations of ecological monitoring sites and data systems in 81 locations across the continental US, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.

    Chief Scientist

    Hank is formally educated as an ecosystem scientist and is also an effective and organized large-project science administrator, team leader and supervisor.  He is skilled in working with individuals, both small and large teams, and across agencies, governments, and intergovernmental frameworks toward achieving collaborative scientific goals.

    As Director of Field Operations, Kirsten Ruiz is responsible for managing the instrument maintenance, execution of field sampling, and laboratory operations in each of NEON's twenty domains.

    Science Lead

    Kate Thibault is the Science Lead for the National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON), managing the Science components of the NEON project, providing budget oversight for and technical guidance to the Science Leadership team, the Program Management Office, and the National Science Foundation. She also serves as functional manager for the Data Science team.
