On June 21, Battelle and The Washington Post will host a special conversation on addiction in America.
The Washington Post LIVE event - scheduled from 8:30 to 11 a.m. - will explore the changing face of addiction in America and public health leaders’ efforts to address the issue. Battelle is a sponsor of this year’s event.
The custom event was developed with The Washington Post newsroom and will feature Post reporters and editors as moderators. Speakers will include members of Congress as well as administrators and researchers from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other federal agencies and research institutions.
The live event is expected to draw an audience of more than 200, including legislators and legislative staff, senior administrators and policy makers, and agency staff. The event will also be live streamed for the public.
Joe Berger, Vice President and General Manager of Battelle’s Health & Consumer Solutions business unit, will speak at the event, while Dr. Scott Novak, a Battelle Senior Research Scientist and Director for Substance Abuse, will attend. Prior to the live event, Battelle plans to share a series of articles and white papers highlighting new research in opioids, marijuana and e-cigarettes.
