The 38th IT3/HWC Conference is a forum for the discussion of state-of-the-art technical information, regulations and public policy on thermal treatment technologies and their relationship to air emissions, greenhouse gases and climate change.
Battelle is proud to be a part of this year's virtual conference.
We're at the forefront of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) research, conducting urgently needed research to better understand the fate and transport of these substances and minimizing environmental and human health concerns.
One area we're focused on is the contamination of PFAS in ambient air. Battelle has developed the PFAS Air Insight™ technology to measure the amount of PFAS in ambient air to better understand potential exposures and to inform possible human and environmental health risks. Our work can also inform and guide the development of and compliance with health-based concentration limits.
You can learn more about our work during the conference.

PFAS Emitted from a Wastewater Treatment Plant with Sewage Sludge Incinerator
Session 1: PFAS and Emissions Characterization Session
Date: Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021
Time: 10:15-11:45 a.m. (EST)
Presenter: Ian MacGregor
Battelle will present our first of its kind study to characterize the concentrations and net mass flows of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) at a full-scale municipal wastewater treatment plant. A key component to this assessment is the measurement of PFAS in the air emissions released from the onsite sewage sludge incinerator.
