Battelle announced today it has received a Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) Homeland Defense & Security Technical Area Task (HD TAT) award supporting the National Guard Bureau (NGB) Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction Division. The award has a total value of $13,781,575 with a 35-month period of performance.
Battelle’s Board of Directors announced today that Lewis “Lou” Von Thaer has been selected as President and CEO of Battelle, the 9th CEO in the company’s 87-year history. Ohio is facing a major opioid overdose crisis. And as many Ohio families fight opioid abuse, the impact cascades into the learning environments in Ohio schools. Last fall, Superintendent of Public Instruction Paolo DeMaria and the Ohio STEM Learning Network challenged Ohio’s students to design solutions to help end the opioid crisis. Throughout this school year, more than 1,200 students accepted the challenge and developed hundreds of ideas to fight opioid abuse.

Battelle and Nanotherapeutics, Inc. announced today that the organizations have entered an alliance to bring together core research, development, test and evaluation (RDT&E) and manufacturing capabilities needed to expedite the development of medical countermeasures urgently required by the Department of Defense (DoD) to protect deployed military forces from CBRN threats.
Today the Lightweight Innovations for Tomorrow (LIFT) national manufacturing institute announced the launch of MakerMinded across Ohio.
