Today, KIPP Columbus officially opened the Battelle Environmental Center on its 124-acre campus. Construction of the center was funded by $3 million grant from Battelle in 2014. Adding to that, Battelle announced a new, additional $1 million investment in the school.

Battelle’s Board of Directors announced today that Lewis “Lou” Von Thaer has been selected as President and CEO of Battelle, the 9th CEO in the company’s 87-year history. Von Thaer, who has extensive leadership experience in diverse markets including engineering, intelligence, and other federal contracting sectors, will officially begin his new role on October 1, 2017. He comes to Battelle from DynCorp International where he has served as CEO since July 2015.

Massively parallel sequencing (MPS) technologies, also referred to as Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), just got a lot closer to implementation in crime labs. A Battelle study for the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) demonstrates that the technology provides the accuracy, reproducibility and sensitivity needed to support forensic investigations.
Battelle will begin helping the U.S. Army combat support and services achieve technical breakthroughs and overcome sustainment challenges under a new five-year, $20 million contract.
