COLUMBUS, OH., 30 September, 2010—Battelle Vice President and Operations Manager for Applied Research and Laboratory Operations Lisa A. McCauley was recognized recently as one of The Ohio State University’s Distinguished Alumni.

“I am honored to receive this award,” McCauley said. “In light of the strong relationship between Battelle and Ohio State, it is additionally gratifying.”

McCauley received her B.S. degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from OSU and started at Battelle soon after. She later received a M.S. degree in national resource strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, National Defense University.

At Battelle, McCauley has held both technical and management positions, largely focused in aerospace and defense. Her current role is to lead the company’s efforts to provide chemical, materials, and biotechnology solutions to scientific and technical challenges to national security.

McCauley is a member of the Board of Directors for Battelle India, and was a charter member and chair of Battelle’s women’s employee resource group. She also currently serves as a member of Ohio State’s Aerospace Engineering Advisory Board.  She is involved in a number of charitable activities, including participation as a judge in the annual FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology) Robotics Competition to build Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) skills in high school students.

Distinguished Alumni Awards were established by the faculty of Ohio State’s College of Engineering to recognize distinguished achievement on the part of alumni in the field of engineering or architecture by reason of significant inventions, important research or design, administrative leadership, or genius in production. Nominations are judged by the College Committee on Honorary Degrees and Honors on behalf of the college faculty.
