Site in Harrison West Neighborhood to be Developed for Residential, Mixed Use
COLUMBUS, Ohio (Feb. 2, 2017) – Battelle announced today that it has entered an agreement to sell approximately 20 acres of land in Columbus to a development team led by Wagenbrenner Development and Fortress Real Estate Companies. The land is bordered by 5th Avenue to the north, Perry Street to the east, 3rd Avenue to the South, and the Olentangy River to the west. Other development team members include Daimler Group, M/I Homes, and Continental Real Estate Companies.
Preliminary plans for the land, which is located immediately south of Battelle’s main Columbus campus, include single-family residential homes, multi-family residential units, leased office space, a large park at the southernmost end of the parcel, the addition of green space along the Olentangy bike path between 3rd and 5th Avenues, and may include other mixed use development. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
“After a very thorough selection process, which included numerous face-to-face meetings with developers who shared their thoughts on how best to develop the property, the Wagenbrenner team was selected because of its vision to integrate the property into the surrounding neighborhood,” said Patrick Jarvis, spokesman for Battelle. “When completed, this unique parcel will enhance the surrounding neighborhoods and benefit the city.”
Battelle is selling the land to generate proceeds that will be used to help fund a significant renovation and modernization of its main campus. The sale is expected to be complete before the end of the year.
