Battelle Names Mark Bauer a Senior Research Leader

Posted on Nov 12, 2014

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Nov. 12, 2014)—Analytical chemist Mark Bauer has been promoted to Senior Research Leader, the highest professional level for scientists and engineers at Battelle. It is an honor reserved for a small group of employees, and Bauer is one of just 12 current employees who hold this distinguished role.

Bauer, who has been with Battelle for more than 27 years, currently works in the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) Defense business unit.

Earning the role of a Battelle Senior Research Leader is no trivial endeavor. It requires significant demonstration of leadership in the technical, mentoring, and business planning and development areas.

“Mark’s accomplishments and technical creativity have made significant contributions to Battelle and to the United States government,” said CBRNE Defense Threat Assessment Leader Ronna Burton. “Our clients have noted their appreciation for his ability to consistently deliver high-quality, defensible results to their technical missions.

After earning his Ph.D. and master’s degree in analytical chemistry at Michigan State University and his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Denison University, Mark spent his early career at Battelle working mostly on projects related with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). After working for a short while in the area of agrochemical product development, he moved to the CBRNE Defense business in 2001.
