COLUMBUS, OH., 5 March, 2012—Battelle and Innovate+Educate today are collaborating in support of an inaugural Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) event in the nation’s capital.
The STEM Stakeholders Summit for Washington D.C. Public Schools is intended to build support for STEM and computer science/information technology education in D.C. Participants from academia, government, industry, professional societies and nonprofits will engage in interactive, collaborative sessions to identify short-, medium- and long-term goals for supporting students and educators. They also will brainstorm ways for the community to coordinate efforts to support these goals.
Participants, including officials from such high-level government and private companies as National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the U.S. Department of Energy, Apple, Microsoft and Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, also will nominate members to form a DCPS STEM Advisory Board to meet quarterly to evaluate progress, identify best practices and monitor progress toward meeting collective goals.
