Battelle, working with Plasan, a supplier of survivability solutions that have been implemented on key U.S. Department of Defense armored vehicle programs, has created and tested a solution to what may be the most common threat today—injuries caused by Explosively Formed Penetrators (EFPs).

COLUMBUS, OH., 9 September, 2010—Battelle scientists have been involved in multiple research projects to understand the upward trend in childhood obesity in the United States—since the 1970s, the rate of obesity among children and adolescents has roughly tripled. In mid-August, Battelle’s Health and Life Sciences Global Business was awarded a new $23 million contract from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that will allow them to study, evaluate and identify aspects of community programs that reduce or enhance the risk of childhood obesity.
