After completing a distinguished career with the United States Marine Corps, he has served at Battelle as a business development leader, responsible for helping USMC clients with technology solutions. In this new role, he will have leadership responsibility for providing high-value, affordable, technology-based solutions to Marine Corps customers and their suppliers.

SALT LAKE CITY, UT. 1 September, 2009 — The Utah Safety Council last week presented multiple safety awards to Battelle and EG&G, contractors at the Tooele Chemical Agent Disposal Facility (TOCDF), the U.S. Army chemical weapons incinerator complex located at Deseret Chemical Depot.

COLUMBUS, OH. 20 August, 2009—Battelle announced today that it has successfully transitioned the autonomous pCO2 monitoring system to its Blazer Parkway manufacturing center. An analytical instrument designed to help scientists understand and predict climate change, the pCO2 monitoring system was developed as part of an innovative cooperative effort with the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA).

COLUMBUS, OH. 30 June, 2009 – Battelle was recently awarded the renewal of a technical support contract with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics (OPPT). This five-year task-order contract has a value of $32.6 million.

ABERDEEN, MD. 15 June, 2009—Battelle was recently named one of two companies being awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract with a ceiling of $94 million. As part of the contract award by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Battelle was awarded the largest task order with a five-year value of $29 million.

SAN DIEGO, CA. 10 June, 2009—Battelle today presented $6,000 to the San Diego Science Alliance (SDSA) for its support of the Middle School Science Education Leadership Initiative (MSSELLI). The check was presented at the monthly NDIA Luncheon meeting attended by 150 San Diego business leaders to emphasize Battelle’s relationship with NDIA and the strong support that the local chapter provides to the STEM initiative.

COLUMBUS, OH. 8 June, 2009—Battelle today announced the hiring of Tim Sample as its Vice President for Special Programs. ATLANTA, GA. 18 May, 2009— States across America are failing to prepare students for pursuing biosciences in higher education—a key pipeline for developing the bioscience workforce of the future. A new report funded and researched by BIO, Battelle, and the Biotechnology Institute provides the first ever comprehensive study of middle and high school bioscience education in the 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. The report also finds a wide disparity across measures of student achievement in overall science and biosciences, an uneven record across states in incorporating the biosciences in state science standards, supporting focused bioscience education programs and higher level bioscience courses, and ensuring science and bioscience teachers are well qualified.

Dayton, OH. 15 May, 2009 —Sixty teams of students from across the United States proved their engineering skills at the FIRST LEGO® League (FLL) United States Open Championship in Dayton, Ohio, May 8-9. Battelle was the event’s primary sponsor.

WASHINGTON, D.C., 8 May, 2009—Battelle recently donated $1,500 to support the Bay Scallop Bowl, which is the New York Chapter of the National Ocean Science Bowl high school competition.
