William “Bill” Gibbs, Sr.
William “Bill” Gibbs, Sr. is an accomplished senior software developer with more than 18 years of professional experience as a developer, lead engineer and task leader. Now a Senior Research Scientist in the Battelle Transportation Operations group, he has been active with Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) projects for the last 10 years and has made significant contributions to the success of numerous Battelle projects. He served as the lead engineer for RESCUME, an ITS project which warns first responders if a vehicle has a lane violation or speed violation during road-side response, and INFLO, a near real-time Queue Detection and Warning demonstration project in Seattle. Bill has intimate knowledge of current ITS standards and equipment and how they relate to real-world scenarios as well as extensive experience working on Department of Defense (DoD) projects since 1998. He has applied his expertise to a variety of programs ranging from embedded systems to high-level graphical user interface development. His hardware experience includes motion controllers, robotics, smart phones, X-Ray imaging, image capture devices and custom hardware. He is currently focused on the development, implementation and testing of V2V (Vehicle to Vehicle) and V2I (Vehicle to Infrastructure) communication messages.
