Challenge

Aging electronics and avionics can ground fleets or vehicles for obsolescence or performance. Technical data packages for these systems has often degraded with age or is entirely unavailable, meaning complete reverse engineering is required to develop drop-in compatible replacement avionics modules.

Solution

Battelle has manufactured thousands of these modules with the quality necessary for avionics applications. Manufacturing includes rigorous testing and operational environmental cycling, careful but collaborative supply chain management, dynamic manufacturing planning to meet customer needs. These systems were reverse engineered and newly, fully documented by Battelle’s experienced avionics engineering team. 

Impact

Replacement control, display, indicator, sensor, and logic avionics modules used in the Black Hawk helicopter, Kiowa Warrior, A-10 Warthog, and C-130 aircraft. These systems typically include custom fabricated mounting and chassis components, custom circuitry that is often rigid-flex style, and electronic displays or customized LED-illuminated panels
