Understanding your Benefits

At Battelle, your benefits are part of your Total Rewards which are much more than a paycheck. It’s Battelle’s holistic approach to nurturing and supporting your health, financial security, life and career. That’s why we’ve put together an optional package of world-class benefits. Battelle’s comprehensive benefits include health and wellness, retirement planning, income protection and additional benefits to fit your lifestyle.

My Benefits is your go-to source for Battelle benefits information. It’s also the electronic enrollment portal. Soon after your hire date and once your employment information has been processed and transmitted to our benefits portal partner, you’ll have full access to the secure, confidential site to learn more and enroll in your chosen benefits.

Be aware of your timeframe to elect benefits: you have 31 days from the first day you start working at Battelle to log on to MyBenefits to make your elections. If you do not enroll in benefits within the 31-day period, generally the next time you will be eligible to make changes will be during Open Enrollment, which is held annually in November. If you elect your benefits within the provided timeframe, your coverage will start the first of the month following your start date.

Benefits Overview

Health

Battelle offers you a choice of medical plans, including a PPO and three HSA-compatible health plans to take care of you and your family. Prescription drug benefits are included with your chosen medical plan. To learn more about each plan, visit My Benefits. Additionally, InShape is Battelle’s wellness resource offering tools and services to help you achieve your personal best – whether you’re striving for physical, mental, emotional or financial fitness. As part of the wellness program, InShape Incentives offers you ways to participate in healthy activities that allow you to earn future premium reductions for your chosen Battelle-sponsored health plan.

As part of your comprehensive health plans, Battelle also offers you tax saving opportunities through Health Care and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) and a Health Savings Account (HSA). An HCFSA or HSA allows you to set aside pre-tax dollars to use for eligible healthcare out-of-pocket expenses while a DCFSA allows you to do so for eligible dependent daycare expenses.

When you’re a participant in a Battelle-sponsored health plan, you also have access to additional services to help you manage your health:

Healthcare Bluebook – A cost and quality tool to help find a fair price for quality health care.
LiveHealth Online – Telemedicine services, offering medical, pediatric, and behavioral health online doctor visits.
MyQHealth Concierge Service – A benefits concierge service to help you use and understand your available benefits (learn more below).

Dental

There are two dental plan options offering preventive, restorative and orthodontia benefits: Delta Dental Base Plan and Delta Dental Premier Plan. You are eligible to participate in a dental plan regardless of whether or not you enroll in a Battelle-offered medical plan. The plans provide you with access to two of the nation’s largest networks of participating dentists: The Delta Dental PPO network and the Delta Dental Premier network. Vision

Vision coverage is available, including the option for basic or premier coverage. You are eligible to participate in either vision coverage regardless of whether or not you enroll in a Battelle-sponsored medical plan. VSP is the insurer for your vision exam and hardware needs. There are two vision plan options: VSP Base Plan and VSP Premier Plan. Visit MyBenefits to enroll in your chosen vision plan.

Life & Accident Insurance

Battelle is committed to helping you protect your income and provide you and your family peace of mind by offering you life and accident insurance benefits should the unthinkable happen. Battelle provides you with Basic Life Insurance coverage. You can purchase additional life insurance coverage for yourself, and in many cases for your spouse and children too. Battelle also provides you with Business Travel Accident Insurance protection for accidental death and dismemberment while traveling on behalf of the organization. With Battelle’s Group Accident Insurance, you have the option of purchasing additional financial protection for yourself and your covered dependents in case of an accident. You can purchase Additional Life Insurance and Group Accident Insurance through the My Benefits enrollment portal.

Retirement

We provide you with retirement benefits that put you in charge of your future. The Savings Plan is a 401(k) plan to help employees save for retirement, including a matching contribution from Battelle. Eligible employees also receive a non-elective contribution from Battelle. Employees can contribute on a before-tax, after-tax or Roth basis and it offers a wide variety of investment options. To enroll in the Savings Plan, call Vanguard Participant Services at 800.523.1188 or visit https://ownyourfuture.vanguard.com and register for immediate, secure online access by confirming your personal information (you will need to use your home zip code) and the Battelle plan number #092024. Employees will need to wait approximately 10 days from their hire date to enroll in the Savings Plan.

Voluntary Benefits

Battelle offers employees access to additional benefits provided by various insurers at a group discount and with the convenience of payroll deduction. You can select to participate in any or all of the Voluntary Benefits on My Benefits. Voluntary benefit options include:

Accidental Injury Insurance – Insurance that provides a cash payment in the event of a covered person’s accident.
Critical Illness Insurance – Insurance that provides a cash payment in the event of being diagnosed with a covered illness (like cancer).
Identity Theft Protection Services – Protect your identity with credit monitoring and other services.
Legal Benefits Plan – A plan offering attorney services that provide support and protection for unexpected personal legal issues.
Pet Insurance – Keep your furry family members healthy or help when they’re not feeling well.
Pet Discount Program – A comprehensive package offering members-only discounts for pet products, veterinary services, ID tags and recovery services and a 24/7 pet help line.

Quantum Health Concierge Service

Quantum Health is available to help Battelle employees understand and use their benefits. Health plan participants can work with a team of Care Coordinators who offer a personalized, guided health care experience to simply health benefits. For other benefits, employees can work with Quantum Health to understand and utilize their available plans and programs.
