Diversity & Inclusion
Attracting, developing, engaging and retaining a diverse workforce drives our success by ensuring that a wide array of perspectives and experiences are incorporated across our culture, decisions and actions. We promote diversity at all levels of the organization to help employees feel valued and included.
For us, diversity is far more than the legally protected classes (age, gender, race, color, ethnicity, religion, physical ability, sexual orientation and gender identity). It encompasses an individual’s communication style, life experiences, educational background, geographic origin, socioeconomic background and any other variables that influence a person’s perspective.
Throughout our history, Battelle employees have leveraged their diversity of thoughts and perspectives to generate innumerable ideas and solutions for our customers.
Employee Resource Groups
Battelle Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are voluntary, employee-led teams that nurture a diverse and inclusive workplace in alignment with our mission, values, strategy and culture. They provide opportunities for employees to develop their leadership skills, receive support and encouragement, and to grow personally. The ERGs include:
Embrace – Advocates and champions for racial diversity at Battelle.
Military Support -- Engaging and valuing military service for the furtherance of the Battelle mission by bringing together our military veterans, employees in the Guard or Reserve, and military families and friends.
NextGen – Advocates for early career and passionate business professionals within Battelle.
Prism – Advocates for Battelle’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and allied (LGBTQA) employees in a way that makes all people feel safe, supported and welcome regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression so that employees, potential employees, customers and business partners see Battelle as an employer and business partner of choice.
Women’s Network – Raises employee awareness and fosters greater understanding and participation in events so that Battelle is successful in achieving its business goals and is increasingly recognized as an employer of choice for women seeking to reach their full potential.
Rewards & Recognition
Battelle recognizes employees for their contributions through a variety of methods, such as service awards and peer recognition, the Battelle Distinguished Inventor program, and our annual Celebration of Solvers, which honors patent recipients and Achievement Award winners.
In alignment with Gordon Battelle's vision, we believe that continual personal and professional growth is critical to our future success. We invest in employee development, which yields huge dividends for our business. We also know that personal growth is rewarded with pride, confidence and increased passion for the work we do.
Tuition Reimbursement. Are you looking to add to your formal education? This program provides reimbursement of tuition and certain fees to qualified candidates pursuing course work applicable to their job responsibilities.
Mentoring. You’ll have the opportunity to seek out a mentor or raise your hand to become a mentor for employees seeking development.
We maintain a vibrant program to support our employees as they donate time, expertise and energy in the neighborhoods where they live and work. Whether it’s arts and culture, education, community health or other outreach, Team Battelle projects are volunteer-driven programs and activities that meet community needs and capitalize on employees' interests.
