The Metro Model Guidebook

In 2006, Metro Early College High School became the first STEM school in the state of Ohio. The school opened as a partnership between Battelle, Ohio State University and local schools. Thanks to funding from the NewSchools Venture Fund, Battelle’s education team recently spent a year studying the school.

The Metro Model Guidebook documents the school’s key elements including its guiding principles and the logistical realities of putting those principles into practice.

The complete guidebook is available for download now.

Navigating the Guidebook

Metro has evolved over the years to address the needs of students, but its five Guiding Principles have remained non-negotiable: Personalization, STEM Literacy, College and Career Readiness, Student Autonomy and Cultural Competency.

This guidebook represents the Metro Model’s approach to transforming education. It is meant to be used and kept readily available.
