Corporate Citizenship Vanguard Awards honor JPMorgan Chase, Cardinal Health, T&M Associates, Hexion and Battelle

Battelle is an honoree in the arts and education category for its work with Ohio State University and other partners to expand STEM education through the renovation of the former Indianola Middle School in Clintonville.

The historic adaptation will create a new campus for the Battelle-backed Metro Early College High School, opening up opportunities for more students in more grades there and at its original location on Kenny Road near Ohio State.

“(T)he revitalization of the Indianola building relieves the community of what can only be described as blight and opens an opportunity for the neighborhood to have a long-desired commodity – a neighborhood school,” Battelle said in its nomination. “Finally, the project allows the Metro school to expand; opening more seats for more underserved and underrepresented students to access a high quality, life-changing education.
