About the Conference

The 2025 Sediments Conference will be a forum for sharing research results, practical experiences, and innovative approaches to investigating, remediating, and restoring the environmental and economic vitality of waterways and aquatic systems. The program will reflect the growing body of knowledge about better ways to manage contaminated sediment systems using state-of-the-science data collection, analysis, and visualization, along with novel approaches in remedy design and implementation.

Aquatic systems management requires engagement with a diverse group of stakeholders and includes environmental, economic, political, and social dimensions. The 2023 Conference technical program included sessions and panel discussions focused on emerging contaminants and critical considerations in sediment management and remediation, including characterization and management of PFAS, beneficial use of contaminated sediments, climate change, advanced data analytics to improve decision-making and remedy design, and incorporating environmental justice from project inception through completion stages.

The 2023 Conference was attended by 1,053 attendees from 11 countries.
